FAQ

Texas registered agent questions

Do I need a registered agent in Texas?

Yes. Texas — like every US state — requires your LLC or corporation to maintain a registered agent with a physical Texas address, available during business hours to receive legal documents and state mail. You can be your own agent only if you have a Texas street address and are personally available every weekday.

Can I use Kicker as my Texas registered agent if I live abroad?

Absolutely. Non-US founders can't be their own registered agent because a US address is required. We provide a compliant Texas address and handle every document that arrives — this is one of the most common reasons international founders use us.

Will you remind me about my Texas annual report?

Yes. No Secretary of State annual report. However, every Texas LLC must file an annual Texas Franchise Tax Public Information Report (Form 05-102) with the Texas Comptroller (not the SOS), due May 15 each year (next business day if May 15 is a weekend/holiday). There is no fee for the PIR. A franchise tax report is also due May 15; no tax is owed if annualized revenue is at/under the no-tax-due threshold ($2.65M for 2026-2027). We track that date and remind you ahead of it — and we can file the report for you too.

How do I switch my Texas registered agent to Kicker?

After you sign up we prepare the Texas change-of-agent form, file it with the state, and confirm when it's active — usually within 1–5 business days. Your current agent is notified automatically through the state filing.
